Embellished Witches Hat Home Decor

For this witch hat Halloween decoration I started with a wooden witches hat from Foundations Decor. The hat comes with a band, buckle and a cute little spider with a piece of wire you can curl any way you like.

Buttons make the best polka dots on virtually anything and in this case a witch hat decoration for Halloween. Sequins make great spider eyes as they can be layered in endless color combinations.

I played around with all the fun elements that come in the 28 Lilac Lane Halloween Candy Mix to see what colors and shapes looked best on the on the wood witch hat and spider.  Once I had an idea of where I liked the buttons and sequins best I picked the paint colors I thought would showcase the embellishments.

I painted the witch hat black and then gave it purple highlights with Plaid paints with a metallic finish.

The band is painted silver and the buckle lime green to matched the green buttons in the Button’s Galore Halloween Candy Mix.

The spider looked cute in a metallic purple.

Once all the paint was dry I glued the pieces of the hat together and then added the button polka dots onto the hat.

Layer the orange flower sequin under the half round purple pearl on the silver hat band.

The spider got eyes made with a tiny black sequin on a medium orange round sequin.

After the glue was dry on all the embellishments, thread the wire onto the spider and then onto the witch hat.

Buttons and sequins are perfect to dress up all your Halloween decor!
