DIY Falling Leaves Home Décor

Hello Everyone! This is Katie from the Buttons Galore & More Design Team and today I will be showing you how you can decorate a new product available from Buttons Galore and More!

If you haven’t noticed, Buttons Galore & More has a new area on their website which is dedicated to home décor. This home décor is a new line of wooden products which are super easy to embellish and decorate. The nice thing about the new line is that you have tons of options for different holidays, themes, or seasons.

The Falling Leaves home décor set contains three pre-sanded wooden pieces. These wooden pieces are a large leaf, a smaller leaf, and an acorn. To decorate the pieces, I used scrapbooking paper, 28 Lilac Lane Premium Sequins in Falling Leaves, and Buttons Galore & More Tumbling Leaves 3D Buttons. Using the scrapbooking paper to decorate the leaves gave the whole set a more completed look and helped for the embellishments to stand out. With that being said, I wanted my Falling Leaves to have a more “distressed” look. To achieve this “distressed” look, I did paint over the scrapbooking paper a little bit.

So, to find out how to make your own Falling Leaves Home Décor, keep reading below!

Supplies

Step 1: Paint each of your falling leaves home decor pieces in a color that will match your scrapbooking paper. Then set each piece aside to dry.

Step 2: Grab your scrapbooking paper and falling leaves home décor pieces. Then trace around each home décor piece onto your scrapbooking paper and cut it out. Finally, glue the scrapbooking paper to each of the falling leaves home décor piece and set them aside to dry.

After the falling leaves home décor pieces were dry, I did go back with the same paint that I used in step 1 to paint the overall piece. Again, I did this so the paper would have a more ‘’distressed look’’, however, this extra step is optional.

Step 3: Now grab your 28 Lilac Lane Premium Sequins in Falling Leaves and Buttons Galore & More Tumbling Leaves 3D Buttons and start decorating each of your falling leaves home décor pieces. Once you are happy with how your buttons and sequins look, glue them down with some craft glue and set each piece aside to dry.

Once all your falling leaves home décor pieces have been decorated, you are now ready to display them!

I love how the Falling Leaves Home Décor pieces turned out! I think the pieces look great on their own but look even better when they are paired with a small sign that has some sort of fall themed quote.

After testing out the new home décor pieces, I really liked how everything was pre-cut, pre-sanded, and already put together as a set. With that in mind, I think these home décor pieces would be the perfect holiday craft to make with your children or grandchildren. Also, who’s to say you can’t turn these pieces into something more. For example, if you hot glued some small clothespins to the back of the Falling Leaves pieces, you could easily turn them into photo holders!

After seeing Buttons Galore & More’s new home décor line, which home décor item would you want to decorate?
