28 Lilac Lane Blog Hop: Spring Flowers

Welcome to the 28 Lilac Lane blog hop on the Buttons Galore blog! Let’s make some spring flowers! Make sure that you stay until the end today for the giveaway!

28lilaclanelogo

Spring has us all thinking of flowers! But in some areas they aren’t blooming yet, or we may not be able to have them in the house due to allergies.

The solution is simple…fabric and buttons! 28 Lilac Lane spring flowers

This project starts with fabric and interfacing. Iron heavy-duty iron-on interfacing to the back side of a small fabric scrap. Then, wrong sides together, iron another fabric scrap to the back side of it. This will create a double-sided piece of fabric, with the interfacing in the middle to stiffen the fabric.

Run the fabric through your die cutting machine to make flowers. Repeat with several different fabric scraps. If you don’t have scraps that will work for this project, visit your local quilt or sewing store and check out their fat quarter inventory for suitable fabric. Small prints work best for this project.

Fabric Flowers

Select a large button to coordinate with each of your spring flowers. With a piercer or large needle, poke holes through the flower where the button’s holes are.

Cut a length of the German Style wire about twice the desired stem length and fold it in half. Poke one end through each of the button’s holes and the flower and pull to snug the loop down on top of the button. Begin twisting the wire together under the flower. Continue until you reach the desired stem length and clip off the wire ends.

Arrange your spring flowers in a vase, and for the finishing touch wrap baker’s twine around the neck and tie a pretty bow!

Such fun embellishments! Choosing a favorite is awfully hard, but if pressed I’d say the pastels sequins tin, the “Cotton Candy” and “On Lilac Lane” bottles (nope, really can’t choose a fave between the two), and the Attic Findings kit. The kits are fantastic! Thanks for the blog hop and for sharing 28 Lilac Lane. It’s a new brand to me and I’m looking forward to creating with it! :D

I do a lot with the nautical theme and these would work so well in
    my projects.

in a long time – they will help fill in until summer gets here.

Sweet summer project and for introducing me to this line. I landed here via a email and so happy that I did. Wonderful to have embellishments that are co-ordinate and in one container. I can’t pick a favorite but think after seeing the canvas using yellow those might have converted me.

  19. Jan Elmore April 22, 2016 at 11:34 AM #

Can’t get enough of seeing how those buttons get used!!! I like the jars of colored buttons with the little beads! Collecting buttons is such a fun hobby!

  22. Lesley Crane April 22, 2016 at 2:23 PM #

I can only choose one!! They are all gorgeous. If I must pick just one I love the paws and pets kit. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  28. quilterlin April 23, 2016 at 10:43 AM #

I’ve done flowers like these a long time ago – they’re still here on my desk and still looking good! Yours are sweet, too! My favorite mix is Tropical Twist – shades of summer!

  29. Susan Rude April 23, 2016 at 11:51 AM #

I love all the projects in the hop, just beautiful. On lilac lane is my favorite combo.

  30. onecraftystamper April 23, 2016 at 11:56 AM #

Fun way to use the buttons! It’s a toss up between Party On and French Quarter, I really like the color combinations in both of those!

  31. Heather P April 23, 2016 at 12:07 PM #

I went to all the stops on the blog hop and there is great inspiration all along the way. The sunshine and French quarter sets speak to me, although they are all lovely!

  32. Sandra Kukla Schroeder April 23, 2016 at 12:09 PM #

Really hard to choose, they are all so colorful and beautiful and full of embelishing yumminess. If I must pick a favorite, I will say Hello, Cupcake, because that’s what I call my grandaughter.

  33. Bev Fischer April 23, 2016 at 12:59 PM #

Just found this site and as a card making fanatic, I love it. So far my favorite embelishment kit is Attic Findings. Looking forward to following you all.

  34. DorothyCC April 23, 2016 at 1:03 PM #

I like how Ashli used just a few embellishments to really make her card pop. In addition to cards, this would be a great technique to use on scrapbook pages. Thanks for the idea! Asking for my favorite kit is like asking for my favorite flavor of ice cream, but I’d have to say that Lilac Lane is gorgeous.

  35. Amante del Papel April 23, 2016 at 1:07 PM #

Such a beautiful embellishments! Choosing a favorite is awfully hard, but if I need to choose say the pastels sequins tin, the “Cotton Candy” and “On Lilac Lane” bottles. Thanks for the chance to win!

  36. Teresa Brock April 23, 2016 at 3:59 PM #

Thank you for the opportunity to win! I really love all of the 28 Lilac Lane products! I have already purchased six different embellishment kits and two different sequin tins (blues and yellows), and would love more! It is very hard to pick a favorite, but I think so far mine has been the New Leaf kit. Yellow half pearls in addition to the green ones would have made it even more perfect! (Maybe for the next release?)
    Thanks again!

  37. craftytreen April 23, 2016 at 4:44 PM #

wow! this is going to be tough! i have gotten so many of the bottles and just ordered the cupcake kit. i guess the first one i was really drawn to was the french quarter. May did a project and she had the most gorgeous purple button right up in front. that was it, i was hooked. that and its so so easy to embellish cards now. i dont have to rummage through 8 million embellishments, she did such a wonderful job of making them mix and match. i LOVE the shades she used. this was a great blog hop, so many wonderful ideas and so many different places and amounts of them on different surfaces. hugs, treen

  38. Jodi wayman April 23, 2016 at 6:28 PM #

  46. Rita Tong April 25, 2016 at 9:55 AM #

Have loved the blog hop – such wonderful creative projects which have really highlighted the versatility of the 28 Lilac Lane product range. To be honest, I would be perfectly happy with any item from May’s range, but my favourite is probably the Attic Findings embellishment kit for it’s combined old / new look and feel & its colour combination.

  47. Lisaerica April 27, 2016 at 1:27 PM #

Such an adorable project! It would be cute in a crafty room or as a gift. Mays collections are the perfect embellies and I love all the colors. My favorite is Attic Findings, though I love them all. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
