Hello Everyone! This is Katie from the Buttons Galore & More Design Team, and today I will be showing you how to make a fun project to celebrate New Year’s Eve: DIY confetti poppers!
New Year’s Eve may not be on your mind right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start gathering up ideas for the big day. One idea that you can add to your list are these easy to make confetti poppers! You may have seen confetti poppers before and thought that they were too difficult or too time-consuming to make. However, today, I will be showing you how you can make a stylish confetti popper in only 3 steps.
The confetti popper that I am making today is made from just a paper tube, a balloon, and a few embellishments. The main item that pulls all of these supplies together is 28 Lilac Lane ‘’Stardust’’ Premium Sequins. This is because the premium sequins are not only used to decorate the confetti popper but are used as the main confetti! The nice thing about using the premium sequins as confetti is that 1) you are not wasting time making your own confetti, and 2) you get a variety of different shaped sequins, and 3) you get a good number of premium sequins (in the package) which can be used to fill up about five DIY confetti poppers. (Plus, if you are careful cleaning up, you can recycle some of the sequins for other crafts when you are done celebrating!)
So, to find out how to make your own DIY Confetti Poppers, keep reading below!
Supplies to Make DIY Confetti Poppers:
- 28 Lilac Lane ‘’Stardust’’ Premium Sequins
- toilet paper or paper towel tube
- balloon
- scrapbooking paper
- washi tape
- letter stickers
- invisible office tape
- craft glue
- scissors
How to Make DIY Confetti Poppers:
Step 1: Tie a knot at the bottom of your balloon, then cut the top part of the balloon in half. Then stretch the balloon around your paper tube and tape it into place.
Step 2: Start decorating your paper tube by cutting a piece of scrapbooking and gluing it around the tube. Then further decorate your paper tube with washi tape, letter stickers, and 28 Lilac Lane ‘’Stardust’’ Premium Sequins.
Once you are happy with how your paper tube looks, set it aside to dry.
Step 3: Grab your 28 Lilac Lane Premium Sequins in Stardust and fill up your paper tube about a quarter full.
When your DIY confetti popper is filled up, you are now ready to spread around some New Year’s Eve cheer!
If you are wondering how these confetti poppers work, all you do is hold the DIY confetti poppers in one hand while you pull the knot of the balloon with your other hand. Once you release the knot of the balloon from your hand, confetti should start flying out!
Now, even though I made these confetti poppers for New Year’s Eve, you could really make them all year around. For example, you could make them for birthdays, the fourth of July, or even Thanksgiving. However, before making them, I would check out Buttons Galore and More’s collection of 28 Lilac Lane Premium Sequins. Simple because you can find a wide variety of sequins that can be used as both decoration and confetti for your confetti poppers!
Before I end this post, I do want to mention one thing about making these confetti poppers. If you are making these ahead of time or are transfer them to a party, then I would put a plastic sandwich baggie on top of the confetti popper and wrap it with a rubber band. That way, the confetti will stay in the popper and not fall out.
