Composition Book – Summer Journal

journal and pencil boxes

A few months back, I made some boxes to hold my colored pencils. I loved the design so much that when I was doing my summer journal, I chose to make a matching journal to coordinate with my boxes. Cute, huh!

comp book

Start with an inexpensive composition book…

cover and distress

Cover with old dictionary papers and distress the edges with staz on ink

Cut the circles and place where you want them to go on the book

haberdashery buttons

I chose my favorite new buttons from Buttons Galore and More; the Haberdashery line… so so cute! I used the retro & black and white collections.

buttons!!!

Look how many super cute buttons there are in this pack!

the title

Add some thread in select buttons to finish them off, use a hot glue gun to glue down the fabric circles and then add the buttons on top. Finish it off with a hand lettered title colored in with my favorite colored pencils.

finished book

And that’s it… you are all done. Ready to take to the lake or on a road trip! Happy Summer!!!
